Traditions & Events

Here's what to look forward to — and how to get involved in each one.

Fall · Annual Tradition
The QUEST Feast ๐Ÿ‚

The Feast is one of QUEST's most beloved all-school traditions. The day begins at Salmon Creek, where students share presentations honoring Indigenous peoples and the colonial era — through talks, posters, games, and crafts. Teachers often build a fire to make fried dough, and students explore the trails as part of the experience.

After the morning at the creek, students return to prepare dishes to share as a school. QUEST has three learning groups — North Pole, South Pole, and Equator — each bringing together students from multiple grade levels. Families contribute ingredients, and every classroom brings one or two dishes to the shared meal.

If You're Attending
โ–บ Sign up in advance — you will not be allowed to enter without prior registration.
โ–บ Bring a valid photo ID — required for every visitor, no exceptions.
โ–บ Check in at the front desk to get your visitor sticker before heading to the outdoor classroom.
โ–บ Check the schedule — not all classes present at the same time. If your child's class isn't on the schedule, they're likely presenting!
โ–บ After presentations, parents exit unless signed up to volunteer for meal service.

Lunch with a Loved One & Book Fair ๐Ÿ“š

Each fall, QUEST combines two beloved traditions into one community-filled week. The Scholastic Book Fair runs all week, and Lunch with a Loved One invites parents, grandparents, and special guests to come share a lunch period right in the school cafeteria with their child.

Every purchase benefits Quest's library and classrooms directly. In Fall 2025, we set a new record with $18,923 in gross sales — the biggest Book Fair in QUEST history.

Evening Shopping Night
Can't visit during the day? A family evening shopping night is held mid-week.
December · Annual Event
The Joy Shop ๐ŸŽ

The Joy Shop is a magical holiday tradition where our community — families, friends, and local artisans — donates handmade crafts for students to purchase as gifts for their loved ones. Everything is priced between $0.50 and $5, making it accessible for every family.

All funds raised are donated to charity — so every purchase is an act of giving twice over. Students shop during school hours, and the excitement of choosing gifts for family is something kids talk about all year.

How to Participate
Craft donations are welcome! Drop them off at school with your student or leave them at the security desk by early December. Watch for the exact deadline in your school communications each year.
Winter · Annual Event
Annual Sled Race ๐Ÿ›ท

One of QUEST's most exciting winter traditions — students and the school community come together for the Annual Sled Race. More details about this year's event will be shared closer to the date. Stay tuned to Membership Toolkit and your school email for updates!

September · Annual Fundraiser
Quest Read-a-thon ๐Ÿ“–

The Read-a-thon is QUEST's annual reading fundraiser. Students collect pledges from friends and family, then spend dedicated time reading — building a love of books while raising money for the school community.

Spring · Annual Event
Culture Day ๐ŸŒ

Culture Day is a vibrant celebration of the diverse traditions, customs, and heritage that make up our community. Presenters from across the QUEST community share their backgrounds through food, music, dance, art, and storytelling — and students engage through workshops, performances, and interactive exhibitions.

The event fosters understanding, respect, and appreciation for diversity, and encourages connections among participants. It's a truly joyful day of learning for everyone involved.

Volunteer Opportunity
We look for individuals from our learning community to come and present. If you have a culture, tradition, or art form to share, please consider volunteering for this well-loved day!
JUNE · Evening Event
QUESTival ๐ŸŽก

QUESTival is a favorite event among kids — and it's easy to see why. Typically held in May during the evening, families and students gather in the school courtyard for a night of carnival-themed games. Kids play, have fun, and earn small prizes.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Free for all families. No cost to attend or play — just show up and enjoy a fantastic night with your QUEST community.
June · Annual Event
Science Fun Day ๐Ÿงช

Science Fun Day is one of QUEST's most exciting annual traditions — a full school day of hands-on, inspiring science presentations led by community members, parents, teachers, and high school students. The day is divided into 6 sessions, each 35 minutes long, and every presenter creates a genuinely hands-on experience.

Past presentations have included making slime, building catapults, elephant toothpaste, investigating insects, career-based science demos, and so much more.

Want to Present?
Whether you work in a science-related field or just love sparking curiosity in kids — we'd love to have you. Sign up to present through Membership Toolkit when volunteer spots open in the spring.
May–June · Annual Tradition · 26+ Years
Kruveytown ๐Ÿช

Kruveytown is QUEST's most unique tradition — a school-wide economics and entrepreneurship experience that's been running for over 26 years. Intermediate students form small businesses, earn startup capital in the school currency (Kruveys!), and open their doors to the rest of the school as paying customers.

What makes it extra special? Every product must be made from upcycled, reused, or repurposed materials. No new purchases allowed — just creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit. You won't find anything quite like it anywhere else in Hilton.

Sessions run at 2:55–3:15 PM across multiple dates in late May and June. Younger students: start saving your Kruveys — you'll want them ready to shop!

How to Get Involved

QUEST runs on the energy and generosity of its families. Almost every event, club, and tradition is supported by parent volunteers — and there's truly something for everyone, no matter how much time you have.

Here's how to volunteer:
1
Create a free Membership Toolkit account — or log in if you already have one from another organization. Same login, no new sign-up needed.
2
Browse open volunteer opportunities as they're posted — from Feast to Science Fun Day to the Book Fair and beyond.
3
Sign up and show up! Our volunteer coordinators will follow up with everything you need to know.
Come to a PTSO Meeting ๐Ÿ“ฃ

PTSO meetings are open to all families and are one of the best ways to stay in the loop on what's happening at QUEST, meet other families, and have your voice heard. We typically provide childcare on site so you can focus and enjoy the meeting.

Meeting dates are posted on the QUEST PTSO calendar — check Membership Toolkit for the current schedule.
